The winter musical season kicked off last night with children singing holiday favorites as the Lower School celebrated the remote Holiday Winter Songfest. Led by Lower School Music Teacher Elizabeth Carney, this annual holiday celebration moved virtually due to pandemic protocols that restrict in-person singing. But that did not temper students' voices as they sang and then enjoyed cookies and cocoa during the at-home Zoom-fest.
Tune in on December 16, 2020, to hear the GSB Players' performance of Agatha Christie's radio play, Murder in the Studio, a duo of one-acts entitled Personal Call and Butter in a Lordly Dish – whodunnits sure to bring thrills and chills. The streamed production, filled with mysterious tales of murder and mayhem, brings the GSB community together to honor the fall theatre arts tradition.
On December 17, 2020, the kindergarten's annual production of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker will be streamed on GSB's YouTube channel at 9:00 a.m., with an encore performance at 6:30 p.m. The ballet performance, an integral part of GSB's Lower School tradition, was made possible this year by following pandemic safety requirements. "It's really exciting to see it all come together," said Jill Fedon, early childhood music teacher and Lower School dean. "It's a huge part of the Gill experience."
