Varsity Baseball Heads into State Tournament in Style

Our baseball team wrapped up its regular season yesterday with a 9-7 win over Delbarton. The Knights improved their overall record to 18-6 and will head to the NJSIAA Non-Public B State Tournament having won nine of the last ten games. Starting pitcher Jake Sempervive '21 earned the win and Christian Mote '22 closed the game with two scoreless innings of relief, inducing a game-ending ground out with two runners on base. Gill scored seven times in the third inning, highlighted by run-scoring hits from Logan Mote '22 and Johnny DiGregorio '24. Matt Park '24 added a sacrifice fly and Zack Wendell '23 completed the inning with a perfectly executed two-run squeeze bunt. Joe Skapinetz '21 went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, and Matt Kalinak '21 was fantastic in center field, chasing down several well-hit fly balls. The top-seeded Knights earned a bye in the first round of the state tournament and will host Morris Catholic tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. in the second round, with the winner advancing to the sectional semifinals on Monday.
