This year's virtual Nutcracker performance had it all – magical mice, dancing chocolate kisses, flutists on tiptoes, and even a cameo by Kyle Armstrong, Lower and Middle School director. Perhaps even more notable, this production upheld a 30-year GSB tradition, even during a pandemic.
Presented by the "GSB Kindergarten Ballet Company," the adorable show also featured delightful dancers from Preschool and Prekindergarten classes. Jill Fedon, early childhood music teacher and dean of student life, directed and introduced the festivities.
"As with many events this year, our production will look a little different," she said. "We are so excited to present to you our reimagined version of our beloved GSB tradition."
While taping the ballet, students were filmed in front of a green screen, either individually or in small groups, to adhere to COVID-19 protocols. Joe DeVico, Coordinator of Instructional and Visual Technology, served as the editor, while Kathleen Burke, music teacher, provided the accompaniment.
Bravo, to all!
Enjoy the show! It will surely transport all audiences to enchanted lands!
