After valiantly serving Gill St. Bernard’s for many years, the current GSB Knight is riding off into the sunset to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
As a beloved symbol to many students, teachers, and alumni, the GSB Knight is an important figure to our school community and a true embodiment of our core values of courage, respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence. With the departure, our retiring Knight left big shoes to fill, and the Gill St. Bernard’s Athletic Department immediately held open auditions to see who was ready to be our next school mascot.
While many auditioned, one candidate rose to the top as the new GSB Knight.
Thanks to the generosity and fundraising efforts of our Booster Club, GSB purchased the new mascot costume for a fresh and knightly upgrade for our school spirit efforts. The costume is designed clad with gleaming armor, a striking plumed helmet, and gallant shield to lead our athletic teams and safeguard our school. When asked about what comes next, a school representative said the Knight has grand plans for years to come, including appearances at sports events, pep rallies, and other GSB events.
“We’re so thankful to the Booster Club for helping us with the new costume,” said GSB Athletics Director Jenn Noon. “The Knight is a great source of school spirit, and there’s no doubt this great armor will help protect our house.”
The new GSB Knight has officially begun the quest to uphold our school’s virtues and capture the hearts of GSB students everywhere. Be sure to say hello when you see our new Knight on campus!
A special thanks to the GSB Athletics Department, Communications Department, Technology Department, Performing Arts Department, Office of Student Life, and of course our students and faculty for helping with our announcement video!
