Michaels ’20 Named Conference Swimmer of the Year
Standout senior swimmer Rebecca Michaels was named the Skyland Conference Valley Division Swimmer of the Year for her exceptional performances in the pool this past season. The two-time captain made school history this winter, becoming the first GSB swimmer to ever claim a title at the Somerset County Championships – taking gold in the 50 freestyle in a time of 24.85 seconds.  Michaels also had a standout performance at the Prep Championships, placing third overall in the 100 backstroke – the first girl swimmer to ever place top-three at this meet.  Her season came to an end at the prestigious NJSIAA Meet of Champions, where she placed 41st in New Jersey in the 50 freestyle. Michaels leaves GSB with every single school record and four-straight all-conference first-team selections. “Becca has had one of the most successful and impactful athletic careers in Gill St. Bernard’s history,” said Head Coach Nolan Silbernagel. “She was an exceptional leader, and I am thrilled for her in achieving this recognition. We will greatly miss the swimmer in the pool, and the person outside of it, very much next season.” Congratulations, Rebecca!
