K-12 Winter Art Show Unveiled in SBS Pavillion

Under a picturesque winter backdrop, students, parents, and GSB employees arrived at the SBS Pavilion on Thursday, December 15, for the opening reception of the K-12 Winter Art Exhibition. The GSB Fine Arts Department was on-hand to welcome guests and artists alike and to celebrate the exceptional artwork created in all the fine arts courses across three divisions.

“It’s such a joy to see what the art students have created from September to December,” said Fine Arts Department Chair Sarah Isusi. “The fun part for the Art Department faculty is to curate and hang walls of art that mix Kindergarten through Grade 12 grade based on color, concept, and design.”

The showcase features works from all grades and in all mediums including 2D, 3D, and digital art, drawings, paintings, photography, ceramics, woodworking, and multi-media creations. Handmade cards by fine arts students, handcrafted pens by woodworking students, and ceramic ornaments by Clay Club members were available for purchase. Proceeds from the sales benefit a host of charities including the Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity as well as the GSB Fine Arts Department and Clay Club.

“The showcase is a time to share and celebrate the variety of media, artistic inspiration, and new techniques that emerge out of each class with the entire school community,” said Mrs. Isusi. “We are so proud of our students, and we delight in hearing about their process and in seeing their families and friends at the opening reception.”

In case you missed the opening reception, the K-12 Winter Art Show will remain on display in the SBS Pavilion until the spring.
