Introducing Jed Petsinger as Upper School Director

Introducing Jed Petsinger as Upper School Director

Dear GSB Community,

I am excited to announce that Jed Petsinger has been named our next Upper School Director at Gill St. Bernard’s, beginning July 1, 2026.

After a comprehensive and inclusive search process, Jed stood out as the top choice. Faculty, staff, and students consistently described him as the “strongest candidate,” “top-notch,” and “the one.” One faculty member noted, “Jed puts the student first. It informs every decision he makes.” These comments echo the experience many had during his visit: Jed leads with authenticity, care, and a steadfast dedication to young people.

Jed currently serves as Principal (Grades 6-12) at the International School of London, where he leads a diverse and vibrant community representing more than 50 nationalities. Over his eighteen years in educational leadership at both U.S. and international schools, he has built inclusive, student-centered cultures rooted in inquiry, experiential learning, and strong relationships.

His previous leadership roles include serving as Assistant Principal and then Principal at ACS International Schools in the United Kingdom and as Principal at Sanford High School in Maine. In these roles, he has guided schools through accreditation processes, strengthened professional learning communities, supported curricular innovation, and promoted cross-divisional collaboration. Throughout his career, he has consistently prioritized student voice and well-being.

Jed earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern Maine, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Maine, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from the University of North Dakota. His academic background, along with extensive hands-on leadership experience, shows both depth and breadth in instructional and organizational leadership.

In his educational philosophy, Jed writes, “Students learn best in environments where curiosity is encouraged, voices are heard, and learning feels purposeful.” This belief closely aligns with our mission and our commitment to balancing academics, arts, athletics, and character development. He understands that schools should be joyful places where students are challenged, supported, and known.

Throughout the search process, Jed demonstrated a coaching mindset that strongly resonated with our faculty. He sees his role as one of support and empowerment, helping teachers sharpen their skills and remove barriers that hinder their best work. That approach reflects both humility and clarity of purpose.

Jed was also drawn to Gill St. Bernard’s because of our focus on experiential learning and community engagement. He spoke passionately about programs like Spring Unit and the opportunities at Home Winds Farm, and he expressed a desire to expand interdisciplinary learning that connects students to real-world experiences. His leadership in developing discovery programs, flexible academic pathways, restorative practices, and strong student support systems makes him well-qualified to strengthen our Upper School’s existing strengths.

Jed succeeds Ananya Chatterji, who has served as Interim Upper School Director this year and will fully assume her responsibilities as Assistant Head of School in July. We are deeply grateful to Ananya for her steady leadership in this dual role and for her continued commitment to our Upper School community.

I am excited about what the future holds for our Upper School under Jed’s leadership. He brings experience, energy, and a strong alignment with our values. I believe he will honor our traditions while guiding us thoughtfully into what’s ahead.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Jed to our community.

With gratitude,

Dr. Delvin Dinkins
Head of School
