On Saturday, May 30, GSB opened its campus for generous drop-off donations from the community to help aide the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. The idea of hosting a food fundraiser arose from the Office of Student Life, as they internally discussed ways to connect our community while helping those in need during these trying times. Standing under the overhang of Cox building, members from the Office of Student Life, along with Director of Advancement Meredith Marks, Associate Director of Admission Ann Marie Blackman, and Director of Security Mike Bailey, graciously accepted the non-perishable food items delivered throughout the day. “Seeing cars streaming on to our campus to drop-off donations for those in need was a wonderful sight,” said Assistant Dean of Student Life Mike Wendell. “What really struck me was the number of students who arrived with their parents. Parents modeling altruistic acts helps to ensure that future generations understand the need for empathy and support of those less fortunate throughout our society. It is obvious from events such as today, that we continue to have a special community of parents raising a very special group of civically responsible young adults here at Gill St. Bernard's.' In total, hundreds of bags were collected to be donated to the food bank. Jill Gateman P ’20 sits on the board of the food bank and her leadership and help were also instrumental in making the day such a success. A huge thank you to everyone who donated!
