GSB Softball Enters Sectional Finals

By Alice Roche Cody

Wishing our girls' softball team good luck on Monday as they head to Atlantic County for the NJSIAA State Sectional Finals against the top-seeded Wildcats, St. Joe's of Hammonton! Our Knights advanced to this next challenge after a thrilling come-from-behind 9-5 victory over Gloucester Catholic yesterday. Post-season play for our Knights has been filled with unpredictability.

"The State playoff road has been hampered by bad weather postponing our quarter-final game on Monday against Holy Spirit and forcing the game to be played on Tuesday at a neutral site (Diamond Nation),” said Head Coach Michael Surella. "After another 3-hour rain delay, during which we played dugout tic-tac-toe and had a pizza party thanks to Trainer Glen DePino, we were able to play and advance 15-1. It has been truly a team effort, with too many stars to mention."

Our winning team now holds a 20-4 record, and Coach Surella appreciates everyone cheering on his players. "We would be remiss not to mention how thankful we are for the support we have received from the GSB community and the Knights Nation," he said. "We feel you out there pulling for us, and we will do our best to bring you back a State title."

Go Knights!
