This Track & Field season, excessive snow and pandemic restrictions have made practicing and competing extremely difficult for our athletes. A break came this past Saturday, when GSB hosted its first Indoor Shot-Put Invitational and welcomed Pingry, Morristown-Beard, and Collingswood as competitors.
"This season has been challenging for our sport and our team, but our athletes have persevered," said Head Coach Shelly LaBarre. "We've been without a track and field training space the entire season because of snow coverage. Our players have been working hard to prepare for a meet to happen. Luckily for our throwers, their opportunity came on Saturday."
Two Knights from our boys' squad rose to the long-awaited challenge. Zac Saunders '22 threw a personal best to capture third, and Joe Licata '22 earned a first-place finish and is now the first-ranked thrower in the state.
Both boys will be throwing today at the Bennett Center in the Rebel Shot-Put Series, and the rest of our team is excited to compete as well.
