GSB Kicks Off the 2026-27 School Year at Annual Convocation Ceremony

Gill St. Bernard’s School celebrated the start of the 2026-27 school year on Wednesday morning with the annual Convocation ceremony.

Faculty, families and students from all three divisions gathered at the Athletic Center for the opening ceremony, which included student speakers and the presentation of the Class of 2027.

“Convocation is one of those rare moments where nearly all of us gather in one place,” Head of School Dr. Delvin Dinkins said. “Convocation marks a beginning.”

GSB Student Government President Aideen Manning ’27 shared this year’s annual class reading, “What Do You Do With an Idea?” by Kobi Yamada, a message that was carried into Dr. Dinkins’ Convocation Address.

“What do you do with an idea? You notice it. You question it. You work on it. You let others help you improve it. And when it is worthy, you have the courage to make it real,” Dr. Dinkins said. “Let’s make it a year of depth, purpose, possibility, and beautiful work.”

Later in the ceremony, GSB Board of Trustees Chair Rajiv De Silva P’21 ’25 led the induction of the Board’s newest members: Jassi Chadha P’18 ’20 ’31, Amy Collins P’26 ’31 ’34, and Rael Welsh P’32.

The ceremony concluded with the signing of the Senior Registry by the Class of 2027.
