GSB Gala Honors Sid Rowell’s Legacy and Raises Nearly $200K for Endowed Scholarship

Gill St. Bernard’s School held its Annual Auction Gala on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the picturesque Ryland Inn, where current and past parents, alumni of all ages, faculty, and friends gathered to celebrate the strength of the GSB community and honor the incredible legacy of retiring Head of School Sid Rowell.

With perfect spring weather setting the tone, guests mingled on the Ryland Inn’s charming outdoor patio at sunset before heading into the ballroom for a memorable evening. As the dinner service began, Rowell warmly welcomed attendees and offered heartfelt thanks to the many people who made the night possible—including generous auction donors, the dedicated parent planning committee, past PA Presidents, trustees, and GSB’s senior administrative team. His reflections on his 24-year journey at the helm of GSB were met with admiration and appreciation from all in the room.

The evening’s auction and event attendance directly supported the GSB Fund, ensuring ongoing excellence in programs and opportunities for students. In a moving close to the night, the community came together for a special paddle raise to establish an endowed scholarship in Sid Rowell’s name. The response was extraordinary—nearly $200,000 was raised, a powerful testament to the impact of his leadership and the dedication of our community to GSB’s educational excellence and mission.
