GSB Culture Night Celebrates the Traditions That Unite Our Community

Evans Hall transformed into a global marketplace of music, cuisine, fashion, and crafts as the Gill St. Bernard’s community gathered for its annual Culture Night celebration.

Throughout the evening, guests visited tables hosted by GSB families who shared elements of their heritage through displays, storytelling, and traditional dishes prepared in the Kitchen Discovery Lab. Interactive experiences invited attendees to engage with cultures from around the globe, including a world map wheel, a sensory table featuring grains and scents, and a music appreciation station with traditional instruments. Families also enjoyed bracelet-making in honor of the tradition of Rakhi and the creation of the first GSB Tartan.

The Upper School Choir shared two energizing selections, and members of the GSB community participated in a cultural attire showcase, highlighting traditional clothing from around the world.

“As part of the Parents’ Association planning committee, it has been an honor to help bring Culture Night to life,” said PA Executive Committee member Mindy Miller Chidgey. “The enthusiasm and participation continue to grow each year, and it’s wonderful to see families come together to share pieces of their culture and heritage.”

Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community Tracey Goodson Barrett said, "Culture Night reflects the welcoming and globally minded spirit of GSB, strengthening community connections while celebrating the many cultures and perspectives that enrich our school and exemplify our philosophy that the world is indeed our classroom."

The Parents’ Association expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to create community events that bring our families together. They extend their appreciation to the committee, participating families, and volunteers who helped make the evening possible.
