After holding its annual National Signing Day ceremony this past fall, GSB hosted its Spring Athletic Signing Day this week to commemorate four additional senior student-athletes who will continue their playing careers in college next year.
Colin Chou, Samantha Leo, Daniel Spataro, and Chayse Stolarski were joined by family, coaches, and friends in Bruckner Hall to celebrate their hard work and dedication. After a brief introduction from Head of School Sid Rowell and Athletic Director Jenn Noon, each athlete signed an honorary letter to mark their athletic commitment.
Ms. Noon reminded the group that while their athletic pursuits will take them to different places, they will always have a home at GSB. Once a Knight, always a Knight!
Colin Chou (Babson College, Baseball)
Colin Chou came into our program as a junior and made an immediate impact on and off the field. His energy and passion for the game are infectious, positively impacting everyone around him. As a high-level "two-way" player, he's made tremendous contributions in every facet of the game. On the mound, he earned the win in last year's sectional semi-final against St. Thomas Aquinas, and he closed out this year's victory over defending Somerset County Champion Rutgers Prep with a dramatic full count, bases loaded strikeout of their best hitter. Colin has also been one of our best hitters. His two-home run, four-RBI performance against Montclair Kimberley last year helped advance us in the Prep B Tournament. Colin is also an outstanding teammate and extremely hard worker, and there's no doubt that he will continue to thrive at Babson.
Coach Pasquale, GSB Baseball
Samantha Leo (Ursinus College, Track & Field)
I have the privilege to be Sam's dad as well as her track coach when she started in the Rockaway Racers Track Program at age 5 and later with the GSB Track team. She fell in love with the sport immediately, but it wasn't until she was in 7th grade that Sam asked me if she was good enough to compete in college. I said "Yes" but it would take many hours of training and dedication. Well, today is proof that she put in the work, especially when no one was looking, and I know how excited she is to have this opportunity at Ursinus. As a Coach & Dad, I'm very proud of her hard work and we will all be following her at Ursinus. Go Bears!
Coach Leo, GSB Strength & Conditioning
Daniel Spataro (Dickinson College, Boys' Soccer)
A four-year starter, and two year captain, Danny achieved the rare feat of starting in four consecutive state finals. Danny had the tools to be both a hardworking midfielder, as well as a lethal striker for GSB. His post-season accolades include all-conference, all-county, and all-state honors. Danny has the potential to be an immediate impact player at Dickinson College as a Red Devil.
Coach Bednarsky, Boys' Soccer
Chayse Stolarski (Stevens Institute of Technology, Boys' Soccer)
Chayse came to GSB his sophomore year and immediately established himself as the heart and soul of our midfield. While Chayse provided timely goals and assists, and achieved all-state, all-county, and conference accolades, his true imprint on our program was his leadership, coachability, and warrior mentality throughout three state championship seasons. He will be a valuable addition to the Steven’s Ducks Men’s Soccer Program and his career should continue to soar.
