GSB Boys' Tennis Expands Program for Spring Season

Nineteen GSB athletes are ready to make their mark this year as the Boys’ Tennis season kicks off.

“We returned most of the players from last year's team,” said Head Coach Chris Walsh, who has stepped up from his Assistant Coach role to head the program. He is joined by newly appointed Assistant Coach Dr. Don Callahan. “The seasoned players along with a strong group of newcomers have us very excited to begin the season!”

Senior David Isserow returns to the varsity lineup for his fourth year in a row. He will serve as Team Captain along with junior Akshay Patel and sophomore Jack Dahler.

“Jack recently returned from an injury that sidelined him for the better part of two years,” said Coach Walsh. “But he is a very talented singles player.”

David, Akshay, Jack, junior Travis Xue, and sophomore Matthew Segal will be in contention for the singles positions this year. Sophomores Lex Webber, Peter Frantz Pendell, Bennett Lavoie, Liam Seely, and Drew Pereira are potential varsity doubles players.

These talented athletes have their eye on a big year at GSB and embody Coach Walsh’s mantras of “Hard work will always be rewarded” and “Give 100%, 100% of the time.”

A host of newcomers round out the roster including junior Rohan Nagpaul, sophomores Jeremiah Ng, Christian Brutans, and Peter Thomas, and five incoming freshmen: Aroosh Patel, Arjun Rao, Deshan Kawatra, Noah Most, and Justin Lee.

“With this hard-working group of players and solid pre-season training, we look forward to contending for the Conference Title and to making a good run in the State and Prep Tournaments!” said Coach Walsh.

Best of luck, boys!
