On Friday, November 10, 2023, the Gill St. Bernard's Boys' Soccer program captured its fifth straight NJSIAA Non-Public B State Championship, defeating Moorestown Friends 5-0 at Franklin High School.
The convincing victory marks the eighth title for the Knights and a clean sweep for the Class of 2024 Senior Class of Goalkeeper Michael Dumiec, Midfielder Alex Skiadas, Back George Taylor, Forward Daniel Spataro, Midfielder Chayse Stolarski, Midfielder Johnathan Ferreira, Back Bennett Lavoie, and Forward Dan Castro.
“It feels great, the feeling doesn’t change,” commented Dumiec to NJ.com. “It’s the same feeling every year and I’m glad this win this year was a little bit more convincing than last year’s.”
With the largest-ever GSB student section in attendance, the Knights took control of the game early when Castro netted the game's first goal in the 7th minute. Three minutes later, Junior Dan Scali increased the lead to 2-0 followed by another goal by Stolarski to give the Knights a 3-0 lead at halftime. Spataro and Junior Max Voigt each chipped in a goal in the second half on the way to the title.
