The Gill St. Bernard's campus buzzed with excitement and nostalgia as over 50 alumni, along with their families and friends, gathered for the annual GSB Alumni Reunion on Saturday, June 1. Set against the backdrop of a picturesque summer day, the event was a testament to the enduring bonds and cherished memories formed at GSB, especially for the Class of 1974 who was marking their 50th reunion.
Festivities got underway at 10:00 a.m. with a warm Welcome Breakfast in the Performing Arts and Community Center (PACC). Alumni embraced and smiled as they reconnected, reminiscing about their school days. The sight of memorabilia and yearbooks spanning decades added a nostalgic touch, sparking conversations about past experiences and shared memories.
At 11:00 a.m., the group split for campus tours, led by enthusiastic current students Maurice Boyd ’26 and Akshara Datla ’25. The tours offered a glimpse into the campus's evolution, showcasing new buildings and facilities that complemented the school's beautiful setting. After a lovely walk, the tours concluded at noon in Hockenbury, where attendees enjoyed shopping at the school store, before moving on to lunch under the tent.
Live music from steel drum musician, Justin Derman, and gourmet dining options provided by the Good Mood food truck were highlights of the mealtime, with attendees choosing between options such as burgers topped with fried mac n' cheese to truffle fries and parmesan truffle rice balls. Complementing the savory treats was Delicious Ice Cream, providing an old-time feel that captivated children and adults alike with its classic bowtie-clad service.
Lisa Amorosa, a member of the Class of 1974, shared her thoughts on the reunion stating, “It was great to visit GSB for our 50th reunion! The campus is just beautiful with many new buildings and in such a gorgeous setting. I enjoyed catching up with everyone there. It was a perfect summer day, and I was reminded of how fortunate I was to attend school there. I’m even more thankful that my children had the opportunity to study at GSB for Lower and Middle school.”
Special recognition was given to the Class of 1974 attendees Beau Bossert, Tony Tillman, and Lisa Amorosa, and with attendees traveling from as far as North Carolina, Texas, and Indiana, these alumni demonstrated the lasting impact of their GSB education.
With beautiful weather, a picturesque setting, and the joy of reconnecting with old friends, the event was a resounding success. As alumni reflected on their time at GSB, they celebrated not only their past but also the vibrant future of the school. In the end, the feeling was unanimous: the reunion was a poignant reminder of how much GSB has shaped the lives of its students, and its community is one that continues long after graduation.
