GSB Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse Continues to Rise

The 2025 Gill St. Bernard’s School Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse team made great strides this spring, building on last season's foundation and taking a noticeable step forward in performance and confidence. Finishing with a 4-12 record—doubling their win total from 2024—the Knights proved they are a team on the rise with exciting potential ahead.

The team's improvement showed up in more than just the win column. GSB moved six spots in the Non-Public B Group Power Points Rankings, jumping from #38 last season to #32 in 2025. In the Lacrosse Numbers NJ State Rankings, they climbed even more dramatically—leaping 25 places, from #208 to #183. These gains reflect the team's hard work and ability to compete with and upset more highly ranked programs.

Sophomore Emery Scavino was a cornerstone on defense, crossing the 200-save milestone this season. With 254 career saves, she now sits at #2 all-time in program history—a remarkable feat for a player who only began playing goalie months before her freshman campaign. Offensively, sophomore Hope Wilson had a breakout season, ranking #6 in the Skyland Conference Valley Division with 61 total points and placing #18 in the entire conference—a notable achievement considering many of her competitors are college-bound juniors and seniors.

The trio of Wilson (42 goals, 19 assists), junior Ariana Tellelian (28 goals, three assists), and junior Cam Coates (25 goals, 12 assists) accounted for a staggering 86% of the team's total offense, proving to be one of the most effective and reliable cores in recent memory. Among the season's high points was a 9-6 upset victory on the road against Morris Catholic, a team ranked 18 spots ahead of the Knights at the time—a clear sign of what this group is capable of when firing on all cylinders.

Throughout the season, one thing never wavered: their attitude. "They maintained a positive attitude throughout every stage of the season," said Head Varsity Coach Mark Wilson P ’27. “Resilience, grit, and determination served as the heart of the team's identity.”

The senior class—each a relied-upon starter—set the tone for effort and commitment, serving as steady leaders on and off the field. As the program progresses to 2026, the focus will be on preparation and accountability.

"The team now knows there is a higher standard for what is expected,” said Coach Wilson. “If they embrace that, they will use the next nine months to become more prepared for the 2026 season."

With strong returning talent, record-setting contributors, and a culture of growth, the future of Girls’ Lacrosse at GSB is bright.
