Gill St. Bernard’s Lower School Welcomes Li Liu for Chinese Acrobat Assembly

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, the Gill St. Bernard’s Lower School gathered for a captivating assembly presented by acclaimed acrobat Li Liu in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. The performance, Traditions of Chinese Acrobatics, was offered by Young Audiences New Jersey & Eastern PA and provided elementary students a dynamic introduction to the rich cultural and artistic heritage of China.

With grace, precision, and vibrant energy, Li Liu demonstrated traditional Chinese acrobatic arts, including hand balancing, plate spinning, trick cycling, foot juggling, and ribbon dancing. In addition to showcasing her extraordinary talents, Li shared stories about her experiences as a performer, as well as insights into Chinese language and cultural traditions.

This inspiring event marked the beginning of a month-long celebration of AAPI heritage in May across all three divisions and helped our elementary students gain a greater appreciation for the artistry, discipline, and cultural depth embedded in Chinese acrobatic tradition.
