COACH’S CORNER
“Our coaching staff has high hopes for the team this season, as we look to continue to grow our program into one of the top schools in the state. We purposely loaded our schedule with some of the highest ranked schools in the state, so we would be competing at the highest level possible. Rather than be concerned with our overall record, we want to play our best brand of soccer with the best opposition to get the boys prepared for the postseason runs and for their college soccer careers once they move on from GSB. We hope to continue our streak of winning the state finals and also have our eyes on winning the county tournament for the first time since 2019.
With plenty of last year's seniors graduating, there are big shoes to fill for the current seniors. Captains Daniel Scali and Dylan Palmieri will headline the senior class that has plenty of leadership and experience. Their qualities on and off the field will serve as an example for our younger guys who all have aspirations to succeed at a high level. Seniors Michael Taliano, Nathaniel Shen, Alex Chyzowych, Daniel Vasquez, David Pressley, and Max Voigt will also contribute in a huge way as they look to carry their team to another season of victories.
The junior class also returns a solid group of athletes who have seen vital minutes on the field in big games. Michael Marino, Brendan Ferreira, Robbie Judd, Andrew Smith, and Jackson Murray will lead the midfield and attack over the course of the season as they look to get on the scoresheet frequently. Sophomores JeanCarlo Sanchez, Renato Panetta, Carter Cistaro, Jackson Collins, Harry Finn, Derek Palmieri, Nicky Fusari, and Denny Trainor will add more talent to the midfield, back line, and in net. Newcomer Felipe Zumbado will anchor the defense in net after taking over for a four year starter in Michael Dumiec, and he will be joined by fellow freshman keeper Dylan Murray.
During the preseason, the Knights put on strong performances against Morris Hills, Mendham, and Bernards scoring four goals and allowing zero. They look to put a few strong showings up as they take on local rivals in regular season matches.”

COACH’S CORNER
“The coaches are very excited about our upcoming season this year. The team has been dedicated to working hard both on and off the field. Throughout the summer, the team has made it a priority to set expectations for all that they would like to achieve and strive for. The 2023 season had its challenges; however, with key returning players and newcomers that will make an immediate impact, the team is focused on our goals and ready to compete. We hope to win our conference and make it further in postseason tournament play.
“We are lucky to have a strong core group of returning players and will look to the leadership of our senior Captain Meredith Klosek playing in the attack and fellow senior Captain midfielder Sofia Criscola. Senior defender Addison Rodriguez and senior forward Josephine Adebambo will have great influence on the team’s success.
We will rely on our junior class to defend our back line: defender Ava Hearn, defender Jessica Sconda, and goalkeeper Chloe Lemanowicz.
We have a talented sophomore class who will look to make their mark all across the field: midfielder Brenna Buraseski, defender Callan Andreski, transfer midfielder Emma Hyland, defender Emery Scavino, and goalkeeper Daphne Kibler.
Rounding out the roster is our freshman class, who we expect to step right in and contribute on the field: defender Olivia Corrado, midfielder Calista Huerfano, forward Amelia Litchfield, midfielder Erin Ott, midfielder Elizabeth Paolini, and midfielder Madelyn Sabol.
After a strong showing during our preseason scrimmages against Villa Walsh and Morris Catholic, the team has great momentum to build off as we head into the season.”

Other varsity players are junior Chloe Garrubbo and seniors Alexa Gnapp and Campbell Macak, who have had a very good pre-season and are ready to take on the competition. Sophomores Elsa Coates, Reyna Facenda, and Aidenn Manning have been playing well, and freshman Elisabeth (Elise) Tansey and Abigail Wagman, who should also see varsity time, round out the roster.
Our aspirations this year are to continue to improve our consistency, which leads to success in Match-Play. I like to emphasize "you play the way you practice!”, and I encourage the girls to follow this motto!

COACH’S CORNER
“Dedication and hard work will define the GSB 2024 Girls’ Cross Country team this year. The common characteristics and goals shared by its ten-member team are reliability and supportiveness, and the team is led by its seven seniors, all with strong running experiences. The team does not complain about workouts, and they have all done their off-season training. This team is very strong and fast, and I expect high team results. They are more than ready to race for the Mountain Division title!
Four-year varsity runners include Ema Hercules, Ellie Roslund, Katie Horton, and Angie Bonaventura. Kendall Bell, Maddie Craig, and Bridget Wood all have a varsity season under their belts. Junior Gurnoor Pakka, who is running cross country for the first time, looks to break into the top five positions. Sophomore Suzanna Horton and junior Braelyn Brandel will add running depth for the team.
On the boy’s side, senior James O’Brien, a three-year cross country team member, states that cross-country is a team sport, and that is very true. Every scoring member will have a significant impact on the outcome of a race! He is joined by fellow senior Nathaniel Pollard. Juniors Oliver Litchfield, Davis Herr, Ben Keller, and Evan Alfaro are returning letter winners who will also score for the boys' team.
The boys’ team has been blessed with strong team chemistry, and we will continue to foster the spirit of camaraderie by encouraging every member of the team to improve. We train hard (on the rolling hills of the beautiful Home Winds Farm course) and are developing perseverance, tenacity and a "Never Quit" attitude.”
