Gill St. Bernard's College Athletics Signing Day 2025

Gill St. Bernard's College Athletics Signing Day 2025

During GSB's annual College Athletics Signing Day ceremony, 10 senior student-athletes from the Class of 2026 committed to compete at the Division I, II, or III level in college next season.

Joey Fava, Luke Greenseid, Chloe Lemanowicz, Ella Martinelli, Steven McRae, Bella Mecca, Dorsett Mulcahy, Griffin O'Sullivan, Addy Platt, and Jessica Sconda were joined by family, coaches, and friends in the Athletic Center to celebrate their athletic accomplishments and commemorate the next phase in their respective athletic careers.

Director of Athletics Jennifer Noon expressed her admiration for our student-athletes. "I am ecstatic to share that last year, in the Class of 2025, we had 18 students go on to further their playing career at the Division I, II, or III level. That was 21% of the senior class! And this year, we are on track to match, if not surpass that statistic!"

Joey Fava (Brandeis University, Baseball)

"Joey Fava was an impact player for us from the moment he stepped on the field as a freshman. His sophomore year was cut short by an unfortunate injury six games into the season, but he was a terrific teammate and maintained a strong connection to the program even though he wasn't able to contribute on the field. It was his junior year that Joey blossomed into a high-level two-way player. After a bit of a slow start offensively, he hit .379 over the last 10 games of the season, and .454 in the last four games, all while patrolling center field as one of the best defensive outfielders in our conference. On the mound he developed into a college pitcher, highlighted by a six-inning 4-hit gem vs. Voorhees followed by a five-inning 7-strikeout performance against Rutgers Prep. I have no doubt that his senior year will be special on the mound and at the plate, and his future at Brandeis is incredibly bright."

- Dave Pasquale, Former Head Baseball Coach

"Joey has emerged as a leader both on and off the field for GSB Baseball. Well respected by his teammates and coaches, Joey's work ethic as a two-way player is off the charts. We are certain that his maturity and development on the field will propel him to a successful playing career at Brandeis."

- Jamie Quinn, Head Baseball Coach

Luke Greenseid (Bucknell University, Lacrosse)

"Luke is a true leader and was recently named captain for the upcoming season. Since transferring to GSB his sophomore year, all he has done is help us win a state championship, county championship & finished last year with a #5 ranking. Luke is a true role model on & off the field. And his play, his IQ and his gains in strength shows his ability to continue to grow and love the process of being a next level player.

Both of our captains (Luke & Griff) act like the head coach in the off season & I have no worries that we’ll accomplish our mission: “To Win the Offseason” with them at the helm. Bucknell University, in Coach Collin’s opinion, doesn’t know really what’s coming to them. He will make an immediate impact the day he steps on campus."

- Byron Collins, Head Boys’ Lacrosse Coach

Chloe Lemanowicz (Illinois Institute of Technology, Soccer)

"With over 300 career saves in goal, Chloe has been the backbone to our defense. Whether diving across the goal to make a save or commanding her defense with confidence, Chloe has led the team with leadership and determination every time she steps on the field. She is one the team could count on when the game was on the line. Chloe is fearless in goal and always encouraging her teammates on and off the field. She's the first to celebrate a teammate's success and the first to lift someone up after a tough game. Chloe is one that inspires others with her energy, positivity, and dedication. We are incredibly proud of Chloe and all she has accomplished throughout

her high school career. We wish her the best as she takes her skills, passion, and work ethic, to Illinois Institute of Technology."

- Donna Bednarsky, Head Girls’ Soccer Coach

Ella Martinelli (Salve Regina University, Softball)

"When I think of Ella Martinelli the word character comes to mind. A 3-time All-Conference and All Prep player, her performance on the field has been directly related to out teams success. As a catcher she's a coach on the field, always there to lift her teammates up. Off the field she has also achieved in the classroom while still finding the time to mentor our younger players as they make the difficult transition to High School athletics. But what really sets her apart is her willingness to sacrifice whatever free time she has to volunteer as a member of her local rescue squad in support of her community. Salve Regina hit the jack pot they are getting a fantastic softball player and an even better person."

- Mike Surella, Head Softball Coach

Steven McRae (Western Connecticut State University, Baseball)

"Congratulations to Steven McRae on his commitment to play baseball at Western Connecticut State University. Steven was an important contributor off the bench and a valuable teammate who was always there to provide support. He took advantage of every practice and game opportunity, which allowed his skills and talent to develop over the course of the season. Steven appeared in five varsity games and made the most of consistent playing time at the JV level, where he was one of the team's most productive hitters and pitchers. His passion for the game and hard work in the off season will no doubt translate into a key varsity role this spring, and a rewarding career at Western Connecticut State. Steven's best baseball is ahead of him, and I look forward to following his development into a college player."

- Dave Pasquale, former Head Baseball Coach

Steven has shown great commitment and dedication to self-development as a player since the beginning of our summer workouts. He is a regular at our team lifts this fall, demonstrating consistency, work ethic, and his love for the game. We are looking forward to his continued development into the spring season and at Western Connecticut State.

- Jamie Quinn, Head Baseball Coach

Bella Mecca (Swarthmore College, Softball)

"Bella Mecca is a gamer. A coach's dream. The first player to the field each day and the last to leave always with a dirty uniform. Her energy, competitiveness and her drive to be the best are what set her apart. A three-year starter, All Conference and All Prep player, she has the ability to take over a game on both sides of the ball. As a member of the National Honor Society, she could not have found a better home for her to continue her softball career, and I know she will make an immediate impact on and off the field at Swarthmore College."

- Mike Surella, Head Softball Coach

Dorsett Mulcahy (Canisius University, Basketball)

"Coaching Dorsett these past four years has truly been special. I’ve watched him grow not just as a player, but as a young man who’s earned the respect of everyone in our program and throughout the Gill community. He’s made such a positive impact not only on the court, but across our campus — the way he carries himself, treats others, and represents our school says everything about who he is. I couldn’t be more proud to see him take that next step to Canisius University in the MAAC Conference — they’re getting a great player, but an even better kid."

- Mergin and Jaren Sina, Head and Assistant Boys’ Basketball Coach

Griffin O'Sullivan (Brown University, Lacrosse)

"Griff was named Captain by his teammates for the upcoming season this year. Griff has been our first player to be voted to the NJSIAA Non-Public team in two different positions: Attack & Midfield while drawing the best defenseman on the other team. He has helped guide us to 2 State Championships, a county championship, a #5 NJ.com ranking with a season still to go and has a chance to join the 100-goal club. However, the best characteristic of Griff is his ability to lead on & off the field through his work ethic. Nobody has to push him, he pushes himself: on the field, in the weight room, in the classroom or whatever he puts his mind too. Everyone who watches us play can see the energy & effort he brings. And his best years are ahead of him. We will be turning on the TV and watching him play at next level. Brown is fortunate to land him and he’ll be a cornerstone of bringing Brown back to Ivy League tournaments."

- Byron Collins, Head Boys’ Lacrosse Coach

Addy Platt (St. Joseph's University, Basketball)

"What a pleasure to have Addy come to Gill for her Junior and Senior years. She has made an immediate impact on and off the court and really has helped take the basketball program to another level. Addy is one of the top players in the state and has already scored over 1,000 points in just three years. Addy’s athletic ability, leadership and work ethic really separates her from others, but what I love most about her is how coachable she is and her mentorship with her teammates. I am so looking forward to her senior year and knowing that her best years are still ahead of her as she will go on to play at St. Joseph’s University."

- Mark Gnapp, Head Girls’ Basketball Coach

Jessica Sconda (Fairleigh Dickinson, Soccer)

"Over the past four years, Jess has grown into not only a strong and dependable defender, but also a true leader on and off the field. Her dedication, discipline, and love for the game have shaped her into the player she is today — one who consistently puts the team first and plays with heart every time she steps onto the field. Beyond her skills in defense, Jess has matured into a confident, resilient young woman who leads by example and inspires those around her. We are incredibly proud of her growth and can’t wait to see her continue her journey at the next level as she takes her talents to FDU."

- Donna Bednarsky, Head Girls’ Soccer Coach
