Boys' Soccer Claims Sectional Championship in Penalty Kicks

Gill St. Bernard’s Boys’ Soccer team topped #2 seed Newark Academy in a thrilling match to take home its fourth straight sectional title in the North Jersey, Non-Public B State Finals.

The top-seeded Knights controlled possession for the majority of the match, producing several scoring opportunities in regular time and the two overtime periods. With the game knotted as time expired, Gill St. Bernard’s nosed out the victory 4-3 in penalty kicks as Nick Collins ’23 found the back of the net to clinch the championship. Sophomore goalkeeper Mike Dumiec earned five saves in the victory in Gladstone.

Gill St. Bernard’s will face South Jersey, Non-Public B champion Princeton Day School for the group title on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Kean University.
