A Cornucopia of Holiday Photos

A Cornucopia of Holiday Photos

By Alice Roche Cody

How does our Gill St. Bernard's community celebrate the holidays?

Our collage captures it all!

GSB families responded to a call-out from the PA Diversity Committee for images depicting the diverse ways we honor winter celebrations, including Diwali, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Christmas, Boxing Day, Kwanzaa, New Year's Day, and Three Kings' Day.

Family snapshots include sparkling fireworks, gingerbread houses, menorah lightings, traditional cookies, eggnog cheers, stockings hung by the chimney, Elves on the shelves, and Christmas trees decorated with the latest GSB ornament.

Many delightful messages about family festivities abounded. For Anna Walz, her tradition was a toast with homemade Coquito, a Puerto Rican holiday drink made with coconut and rum. The Spinowitz family lit their synagogue's menorah at sunset. Lots of baking and tree decorating marked how the Menzas prepare for Christmas. The Segretos spent a magical day with the Bajada family at the New York Botanical Garden to marvel at its Holiday Train Show. And the Rodriquez clan got all dressed up to ring in the New Year, but even though they had no place to go, they had a lovely time together.

Thank you to all who shared glimpses of their special family moments to create our spectacular collage!
