Music Technology Camp

Program Info

Hi Hills' new music technology camp combines training in the professional and home multi-track studio mixing and recording with live sound reinforcement techniques. Utilizing hands-on lessons featuring state of the art mixing and recording equipment, students will learn best techniques for live sound along with how to make the best quality recordings, whether at home or in a professional environment.

Topics covered will include microphone types and uses; general sound and recording techniques; console navigation; basic mixing techniques; what to look for when purchasing gear; and how to set up your home studio.
At the completion of the camp, students will understand technologies in modern sound design, mixing techniques, and recording processes. Students will also participate in recording and mixing a song in the new Performing Arts & Community Center (PACC) on campus.

  • Grades 5-12

  • July 8 – July 12 (Grades 9-12); 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; Fee: $375

  • July 29 – August 2 (Grades 5-8); 9:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.; Fee: $185

  • What to Bring / What to Wear

    • All items should be labeled with camper’s first and last name. Campers should dress appropriately for activities (e.g., comfortable closed-toe shoes or sneakers, shorts, and t-shirts).
    • Water bottle
    • If you will be combining Music Technology Camp with another half-day Hi Hills program, your child will be provided lunch each day.
  • Drop Off & Pick Up

    AM Drop Off: 9:00 a.m.
    PM Pick Up: 11:45 a.m. / 4:00 p.m.

    Morning Drop Off
    Beginning at 8:55 a.m., campers should enter the West Gate and follow the signs for “Drop-Off” at the Lower School entrance. Please form one line. Wait for the car in front of you to finish dropping off campers before pulling forward. Team Members will be there to greet campers and help them out of the cars. If your camper is attending an afternoon program, Team Members will make sure he or she gets to the next session.

    Late Drop Off
    If you arrive late to drop off your camper, please walk your child to the Hi Hills Camp Office (located in the Cox Building) to check in for the day. All late campers will be escorted to their sessions by Team Members.

    Afternoon Pick Up
    Beginning at 11:40 a.m./ 3:50 p.m., parents should enter the West Gate and follow the signs for “Pick-Up” at the Lower School entrance. Please form one line. Before pulling forward, wait for the car in front of you to finish picking up campers. Team Members will be there to assist campers and help them into the cars.
