Grandparents & Great Friends Day

Amid a welcome interval of sunshine, more than 150 guests came to campus this morning for Grandparents & Great Friends Day. Lower School children breakfasted with their guests in the Athletic Center and then treated them to a morning of special activities, beginning with a Lower School concert. Lower School Director Honor Taft and Head of School Sid Rowell welcomed the guests and thanked them for coming. Gill grandparent Judy Pendell, GP '22, '24, '27 also spoke to the gathering and encouraged grandparents to stay connected to happenings at Gill through the weekly newsletter.
After the concert, visitors had a chance to tour the Lower School, see some classwork in action and enjoy cookies and lemonade in the main hallway. In addition, today marked the official opening of the savanna display, this year's Lower School biome project. Each May, the interactive exhibit represents weeks of student work and research into a specific biome. This year's display includes glimpses of giraffes, monkeys, zebras and a wealth of information about the grasslands they call home.
