The Fine Arts and English Department recently announced the school’s first senior art show, a special exhibition and studio walk-through of senior art and creative writing. The event will take place on Thursday, May 18, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. throughout Hockenbury and in the woodshop.
Works on view in Hockenbury will include AP Studio Art concentrations by Nina Bhatia, Cindy He, Leo He, Rachel Richardson and Kelly Schiesswohl. Large-scale paintings from portfolio students Steven Hassett, Mary Fran Howard and Erica Phiansunthon will be on display along with a series of photographs on canvas by Will Dadouris.
In the woodshop, Amanda Miller, Nate Bess and Nyla Mulcahy will show their original final pieces and Cam Miller will show a series of ceramic works.
In addition, Creative Writing and Advanced Creative Writing students will present a portion of the work they completed this year. Senior poetry will also be on display as posters for reading and viewing, and the Advanced students will read from the novellas they completed in the first semester.
"Working with the seniors in Portfolio and AP is always a delightful experience," said Fine Arts Chair Sarah Isusi, who is coordinating the show. "It has been a pleasure to facilitate each student’s unique vision, style and approach to art-making. The art studio is always full of energy and support and this show celebrates the hard work and commitment of our seniors and the exquisite work they have produced throughout the year."
All members of the GSB community are welcome to attend this special event. Some artwork may not be suitable for young children.
