Spring Gala Exceeds Goal

More than 225 guests came to campus on Saturday, April 8, for the annual spring gala. The Athletic center was transformed by David Ellis Events, capturing the mood of a causal moonlit night. “The room looked striking,” offered gala chair Julie Bliss Chan. "The space was filled with white flowers and soft lighting and there was a gorgeous illuminated moon that shone over everything. Everyone looked beautiful in white attire as they mingled, dined and bid."
With spirited bidding on more than 200 silent auction items and 20 one-of-a-kind live auction items, the gala committee well exceeded its goal of raising $200,000. The most sought-after item from the live auction was dinner at Home Winds, featuring a culinary duel between Head of School Sid Rowell and board member Doug Matthews. Bowing to pressure from the bidders, the chefs graciously agreed to host the event twice. The fund-and this year was to support a new campus footbridge that will make the trip to Home Winds safer and more convenient for our students.
Other highlights from the evening included a sold-out wine and spirits pull, fabulous food and live band Sam Strum & Third Rail. The gala wrapped up with a round of cappuccinos and espressos, courtesy of Cupa Cabana.
Reflecting on the moonlit night, Chan said "I can’t believe that the gala has come and gone already! All of the months of hard work from my outstanding committee culminated in a memorable evening that was relaxed, fun and festive. It was a special evening that I will always remember. I wish to thank everyone for your support, from our donors to guests—you are truly what made the evening a success."
