The GSB Classic is an annual Gill golf outing whose purpose is to raise money for the endowment to fund need-based financial aid. In 12 years, we have raised more than $1.2 million. Finally, after 11 years as either chair of the committee or honorary chair, Greg Niccolai P’16, “retired” this year. Happily, he will continue to join us moving forward, but only as a player.
Greg has done an outstanding job with this event since it started in 2005. Back then, his co-chair was Joe Vespa, P’ 07. When Joe stepped down in 2009, John Howard P’17, ’21 became his co-chair. Two years ago, Greg chaired the event by himself. His selfless service to the school over the years is truly remarkable. Greg is quick to give the credit to others while shouldering much of the heavy lifting. The committee this year was chaired by Kevin Carey P’23 and Kevin Giordano P’14, ’19.
I make special note of Greg’s many contribution to our school, because our success is so dependent on individuals who volunteer their time and leadership to help out on these major events. We need more Greg Niccolias in our community and their presence makes a tremendous difference in the life of our school. I hope you will join me in the thanking Greg for his services these past twelve years!
