Community Service

We all know the value of service in our communities. Whether it's through our neighborhoods, schools or local organizations, community service in any form promotes healthy communities, positive social behavior, and—most important—provides a need for others.

At GSB, there is a long history of community service in all divisions. Whether it's celebrating the harvest at the annual Stone Soup event, visiting seniors at an assisted living facility, collecting turkeys for Thanksgiving or volunteering at a local food bank, GSB students and families have always responded to the needs of the extended community.
In addition to the aforementioned activities, students in the Middle School have the opportunity to select organizations to support throughout the year. We are pleased to announce that through bake sales (for students and adults), poinsettia sales, a three-on-three basketball tournament and bagel sales, Middle School students and families generated $12,951.48 in support of the following organizations:
BlinkNow (supported by Half The Sky Club)
Breast Cancer Awareness
Mane Stream
Save the Children
No Kid Hungry
Operation Smile
Puppies Behind Bars
Veterans Greenhouse
Students for a Better World
We are extremely proud of our students for stepping forward to support these causes. Any student with an idea, a faculty coordinator and some inspiration can make a difference in our local, national or international communities. Way to go!
"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'"
--Martin Luther King, Jr.
