Although the calendar may indicate that it is spring, the weather recently has felt more like winter. My outside thermometer this morning indicated that it was 24 degrees outside, though with the wind, it seemed much colder! While not great for spring sports, I suppose it will assist us in our efforts to keep our students focused on their coursework in the next week or so.
The final quarter of the academic year can be a particularly challenging time, especially for seniors. All of them have been accepted to a college or university (even those who might be on a wait list) and it is natural that their thoughts are beginning to shift away from Gill. Everything we can do to maintain their attention helps.
This Saturday is our annual auction gala in the Athletic Center. It is our major fundraiser of the year and the proceeds help fund programs at the School. Without it, tuition would be almost $500 more per family. The auction is also a community building event and each year several newly accepted families attend. The auction is a huge undertaking and a significant number of parents, led by Jen Meenan and Sharon Bittman, have done a fantastic job putting it together. Kudos also to all of our volunteers. I hope that all of our families will have a chance to join in and/or support the event.
Gill St. Bernard’s is a private, coeducational day school for students age three through grade 12, located in suburban New Jersey. Each of the three school divisions provides a vigorous, meaningful and age-appropriate curriculum, and all students benefit from the environmental learning opportunities that exist on our 208-acre campus.
