It is now clear that ISIS (or ISIL or IS) was behind the attacks in Paris. Although tomorrow will be a national day of mourning in France, the response of the French people will no doubt mirror our own after the attacks on America in 2001.

It is hard to discern the proper course of action beyond catching and holding accountable those who would commit such acts. I can only pray that whatever the response by the French, it does not make the situation worse.

Sadly for us the immediate impact is clear; no travel to France for the foreseeable future and all Unit trips moving forward will need to be assessed from a safety standpoint in the aftermath of the tragedy. Thank goodness our eighth graders have returned from Washington DC. I don’t think I could have “green lighted” that traditional trip given the events of the past few days.
Gill St. Bernard’s is a private, coeducational day school for students age three through grade 12, located in suburban New Jersey. Each of the three school divisions provides a vigorous, meaningful and age-appropriate curriculum, and all students benefit from the environmental learning opportunities that exist on our 208-acre campus.
