The opening reception for the 2014 GSB Winter Art Show will be held Sunday, January 12 between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Middle and Upper School art projects encompassing all courses taught during the fall 2013 semester will be on display throughout the Founders Hall art gallery and in nearby classrooms.
Original Middle School works will include woodworking pieces completed by Robert Ort’s classes. In addition, Sarah Isusi’s Middle School studio art students will present a variety of drawings, paintings and collages created using colored pencils, acrylics and watercolors, as well as self-portraits in wire.
From the Upper School division, photography students representing both Oscar Beck’s and Ort’s classes will exhibit three dimensional photographs mounted on layered Plexiglas panels. Likewise, Beck’s studio art and painting classes will present acrylic landscape paintings of the Gill campus and still-life portraits featuring various items in the art room—some painted in acrylic and others drawn in ink. An array of original handmade furniture done by Ort and Gerald Cirillo’s Upper School woodworking classes will also be featured, and the Upper School’s portfolio art classes will highlight charcoal and pastel drawings of still-lives, original paper cuts and self-portrait collages.
Gill St. Bernard’s is a private, coeducational day school for students age three through grade 12, located in suburban New Jersey. Each of the three school divisions provides a rigorous, meaningful and age-appropriate curriculum, and all students benefit from the environmental learning opportunities that exist on our 208-acre campus.
