Eve Campeau returns for her second stint as the head coach of the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams here at Gill. As a lifelong athlete, Campeau brings a wealth of experience and passion for fitness to the running program.

Campeau has competed in a variety of sports throughout her career, including cycling, running, collegiate rowing, and swimming; she brings all these backgrounds into the training of her athletes.

“While the training for the Cross Country team will be running focused, I truly believe in strength and conditioning and cross training to make sure that the student-athletes are strong throughout the season,” she explains.

Campeau is a six-time Hawaiian Ironman qualifier and finished second Overall Female in the 2012 Chesapeake Ironman. She also finished third Overall Female in the 100K Mountain Run in Scotland and is a multiple Boston Marathon qualifier with a personal best time of 3:03.21.

Her individual athletic accomplishments have transitioned over to success in coaching as well. She served as the head cross country Coach at Villa Walsh last season where three of her runners earned All-Non Public Team honors. In 2016, Campeau led the girls' squad to its second straight Mountain Division title while the boys finished second in the division.

“I just really love watching the kids and seeing them improve,” says Campeau. “It is also great to be at Gill because I really believe in the school’s approach of having a good balance between athletics, academic, and other interests.”

Campeau is a USAT Level 1 Coach and also manages her own personal fitness business, which serves and trains athletes from ages 14 to 70.

The boys’ cross country program has had some of the longest stretches of success here at Gill. They have won 11 conference titles (1993, 1994, 1997-2002, 2006, 2014, 2015) to go along with seven Prep B Championships (1993, 1994, 1997-1999, 2002, 2013). It is one of the few programs at Gill to claim championships over three different decades.

Middle School

The coed cross country team is a great way for students to meet new classmates and build up their running endurance before advancing to the Upper School level. This program also allows the students to get used to the home cross country course that is used by the varsity teams.
