Spring Art Exhibition to Open May 11

The Fine Arts Department will host an opening reception for its spring art exhibition from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, at Hemm House and the Founders Gallery. The event, which is open to the public, will feature an array of work from students in kindergarten through grade 12, including drawings, paintings, mixed media collages, photographs, ceramics and fine wood pieces. A special highlight of this spring's show will be self-portraits from students in all three divisions.

The show will also feature the following:
  • A display of Viking chairs by eighth grade students
  • A variety of hand-built and thrown ceramics as well as watercolor cherry blossom paintings and mono-prints by Middle School students
  • Fine wood pieces and handmade furniture by Upper School woodworking classes as well as slip casting and tile projects by Upper School ceramics classes
  • Upper School studio art and painting classes will show icon collage portraits, famous paintings reimagined and floral still life paintings
The show will run from May 11 through the end of the school year. The Hemm House gallery will also be open Thursday, May 18 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and by appointment only.
