Knights Earn Big Win Over Top-10 Team

The girls’ basketball team enjoyed its first statement win of the young season on January 2, defeating the eighth-ranked program in the state, Franklin, 60-53.

The Knights were down at the half, 33-26, but showed great resilience to come away with the victory. Caileigh Walsh ’21 continued her impressive start to the season by scoring 20 points, while adding 10 rebounds, and four blocks.

Also having strong games for GSB were Devyn Scott ’20 (14 points, three rebounds, five assists) and Ella Fajardo ’21 (15 points, four rebounds).

Gill was unable to keep up the momentum from the big win however; falling to the number sixteen team in New Jersey, Bayonne, 43-38 on January 4. The Knights’ record is 3-3, and they hit the court again on January 7 against Hunterdon Central.
