Ice Hockey on Top of Standings

The ice hockey team has continued its strong start to the season as the Knights are currently 4-2-2 and sit at the top of the MCSSIHL – Charette Division.
On December 17, the Knights earned a crucial 4-4 tie over Morris Catholic to stay ahead of the Crusaders in the divisional standings. Gill was led by junior Edward McCarthy, sophomore Brenen Lavoie and freshman Matthew Bloomenthal as all three players recorded two points.
Gill returned to the ice on January 5 as the Knights defeated Whippany Park in a dramatic 4-3 victory. Senior AJ Donofrio scored the game-winning goal with only 20 seconds left in the game. Freshman goalie Alex Steinberg was huge between the posts as he recorded 29 saves in the win.
The Knights made it two wins in a row when they defeated Newton 4-2 on January 7th. Bloomenthal led all scorers with two goals and Donofrio contributed a goal and an assist as well.
The Knights look to extend their divisional lead when they take on Morris Catholic on January 10.
