Golf
The GSB Golf Program recent run of success has helped the team emerge as a top team in the state.
Playing at some of the most pristine courses in the Northeast, the Knights have earned numerous team accolades including six Skyland Conference Division titles (2009-2011, 2013, 2018-19), one Somerset County Championship (2021), and a Non-Public B State Title (2023). On an individual level, the team has had several players collect postseason awards and continue their playing careers at the collegiate level. Coach Touhey
With over 15 years of experience coaching Upper School athletics, Coach Touhey brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the varsity golf team. His background includes coaching boys’ soccer, basketball, and golf where he developed a strong foundation in mentoring student-athletes.
Though a late bloomer to golf, his passion for the sport ignited during his senior year of college when he took a job as a starter at a local public course to help make the game more accessible. Since then, golf has become a central part of his life—he plays regularly with family and friends and competes in a traveling league.
As a dedicated science teacher, Coach Touhey enjoys exploring the scientific aspects of the game—from swing mechanics and ball flight to equipment and course conditions. He encourages players to develop a deeper understanding of how and why things work, both on and off the course.
His coaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of process over outcome. He believes that committing to consistent habits, thoughtful practice, and positive mindset helps student-athletes improve not only their scores but also their resilience and confidence. For Coach Touhey, golf is more than a sport—it’s a teacher of patience, focus, and life.
