International Students
Gill St. Bernard’s School has proudly welcomed students from many countries across the globe, including Australia, China, Vietnam, Spain, Kosovo, England, Ireland, Israel, Palestine, and South Korea. In keeping with the school’s motto, “The World is our Classroom,” GSB encourages all its students to see themselves as global citizens and to explore world cultures. Welcoming international students into our community creates a richer educational experience for everyone. After graduating, most of our international students attend colleges and universities in the United States.

- May apply for admission to the ninth or tenth grades
- Must apply for the full academic year, which runs from September to June

We proudly partner with APEX International Education Partners (APEX) to provide international students with local homestays, guardianship, monitoring, and representation. APEX offers full support to ensure a successful and memorable experience for international students, their parents abroad, their partner schools, and the host families they live with. Host families receive a generous monthly stipend per student, and a one-time sign-on bonus is available for Educators. APEX is American-owned, is CSIET accredited, employs staff locally, and operates with complete transparency and strict adherence to the highest ethical standards.
Our Program is Small and Selective
Our international student program is small and selective; we admit no more than a handful of students to our Upper School annually. International students matriculate into our college-prep program on their first day at Gill St. Bernard’s. We do not provide ESL support; therefore, International applicants must possess strong written and conversational English skills to be successful in our program.
Balance Matters at GSB
In addition to a rigorous course of study, the arts, athletics, student clubs, social activities, and participation in community service are part of the culture of our school and enrich the educational experience for all our students. All students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the many extracurricular activities that Gill has to offer. Each student is assigned a faculty advisor, and our international students benefit from the additional support they receive from our International Student Advisor.
Entrance Exam Requirements
Applicants whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). All other applicants must take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). Test scores should be sent to Gill St. Bernard's School directly from SSAT or TOEFL. We cannot accept copies of test results from other sources.
