GSB faculty consider the student first, and they create a school where character is developed and academic excellence is pursued.
Teachers develop a vibrant, innovative, and engaging learning environment through their talents, dedication, and enthusiasm. They know that learning and teaching are lifelong processes -- and that leadership and followership are equally important skills. Respect for the individual in the community defines the essence of human interaction at GSB. Teachers share their passion for teaching and learning and, in doing so, inspire everyone around them.
Spotlight: Mary Tuohy
Second graders will say that Mary Tuohy’s favorite word is “yet.” The first thing they learn is, The power of yet, which underlines everything the class celebrates: holidays, birthdays, and failures. Students gasp and question, "Ms. Tuohy, why would we celebrate failures?" She then proceeds to tell them that mistakes lead to growth.
