Volunteer Opportunities
ANNUAL FUND consists of unrestricted charitable financial contributions to the school. Tuition income does not cover the cost of operating any independent school and GSB counts on additional gifts from parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends to help support its programs.   The Annual Fund committee works with the school’s development office to contact parents throughout the year through phonathons and personal solicitations.

ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB is a fund-and-spirit-raising organization to benefit our student-athletes. Your support is welcome in the form of an annually renewable membership, and in various volunteer opportunities such as becoming a team parent in the Upper and Middle Schools, helping with concessions at Cox Lodge and in the Athletic Center, decorating for Homecoming and “Spirit” days throughout the year, and helping during Lower School events.

AUCTION/DINNER DANCE is the school’s annual spring fundraising gala. This fun and successful event nets over $200,000 for the school each year. The evening features an elegant dinner, dancing, live and silent auctions, and a 50/50 cash raffle drawing. Event date: April 16, 2011 at Hamilton Farm Golf Club.

CARE NETWORK is a group of parents that offers meals and support to families who are going through a challenging life experience such as the birth of a child, injury, illness or death of a family member.

FASHION EVENT is held off-campus in the fall and this year features a runway presentation of fall fashions by designer Nicole Miller, over 25 boutique vendors, themed baskets, “Pandora’s Box”, a luxury raffle and buffet lunch. Event date: November 10, 2010 at Meadow Wood Manor in Randolph, NJ.

FRIENDS OF THE ARTS (FOA) promotes, supports, and enhances the core programs designed to instruct, educate, and challenge students in the fields of theater arts and visual arts across all divisions.

HOMECOMING/FAMILY DAY is held in the fall with fun activities geared for students and families, a picnic lunch, and athletic events. Event date: September 25, 2010   - rain or shine!

PARENT ADMISSION NETWORK (PAN )
GSB families are our best promoters, and PAN members workclosely with the school’s admission office in communicating with prospective families about GSB’s program. PAN representatives call prospective families and participate in the mentoring program which helps to support the school’s recruitment efforts.

PARENTS’ BREAKFASTS organizes the Parents’ Association kick-off breakfast. This includes the theme, invitations, registration, and the GSB volunteer brochure. It is also responsible for the last Parents’ Association open meeting/breakfast on May 4, 2011.

PARENT DIRECTORY ADS is a committee that solicits advertisers for publication in this essential parent telephone directory.

PUBLICITY works closely with the development office to provide important information about the Parents’ Association’s activities in the monthly “GSB News” and on our school’s website. The Publicity Committeealso creates invitations and promotionalmaterials for the various events sponsored by the Parents’ Association.

ROOM PARENTS are selected by division directors with a chair for the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. At least one room parent is recruited for each class. These volunteers help plan and organize class activities, Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day, and may assist other Parents’ Association committees with their efforts. Room Parents are chosen prior to the beginning of the school year.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATORS  work with those parents who volunteer to help out during the year with mailings, decorations, and set-up for various school functions and events. Volunteer opportunities are
flexible and all are welcome!

WRAPPING PAPER/GIFT MERCHANDISE sales drive begins in September and continues through December. Quality wrapping paper, ribbon, decorative bags, chocolates, gifts and magazines, as well as, new this year - cookie dough, are available to purchase through Sally Foster. This is an important fundraiser for GSB as forty-five percent of total sales are returned to the school.

OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

LIBRARY BOOK FAIR works closely with the school librarians organizing the annual book fair. Volunteers work at the fair, set-up/take-down, and assist students during the event. There are flexible volunteer
opportunities. Event date: Nov. 3-5, 2010
