Drama
Drama and its appreciation are important parts of the enrichment program at Gill St. Bernard’s. Participation in drama encourages cooperation and teamwork and helps to develop confidence and poise. The Upper School fall play and spring musical, and the Middle School play provide stages for student actors, enlist the assistance of student technicians and stage hands, and encourage the participation of parent volunteers.
GSB drama productions have won several nominations for state wide awards in recent years. In 2008, the production of The Secret Garden won the Outstanding Overall Production Award in the statewide Papermill Playhouse “Rising Star” contest (the equivalent of a Tony for Best Musical in the state of New Jersey). The school also took home three additional awards last year: for Outstanding Scenic Achievement, Outstanding Musical Direction and Outstanding Costuming Achievement.
